Boys Middle School Soccer…
Tuesday, October 7 The Tigers winning streak continues as Ozark defeated the Irish of Spfd Catholic by a score of 3-1. Catholic actually opened the scoring with a goal in the first five minutes of play. But Ozark’s Than Poivre would even the score a few minutes later on a PK that was awarded after he was fouled in the box. Late in the first half, Cyler Gannon hit a huge direct kick from nearly 30 yards out which John Freeze managed to direct into the right side of the goal with the back of his head to give Ozark a 2-1 halftime lead. Freeze would add a second goal in the second half to seal the victory for the Tigers.
Wednesday, October 1 The Ozark Tigers finally put a notch in the win column!!! In Tuesday night’s game against the Bolivar Liberators, Ozark came out strong and had several scoring opportunities in the first 15 minutes of play. But they were not successful in finding the back of the net and the run of play leveled out during the remainder of the first half. The score was still nil - nil at halftime. Ozark, however, again came out on the attack in the second half and got a goal in the first five minutes of play. The goal came as Sam Gunnels played a short corner to Gregory Marlow. Marlow played the ball back to Gunnels, who served a beautiful ball into the six yard box where Tyler Sartain was waiting to skillfully volley it into the back of the net. Bolivar however answered back getting the equalizer five minutes later to tie the game at 1-1. The attack shifted back and forth during the next 20 minutes of play. Finally, Ozark Tiger Tyler Stamper pounced on a defensive mistake with just over 2 minutes left in regulation time. Stamper surged up the right side of the field and skillfully served the ball to the center of the eighteen yard box where Sam Gunnels settled the ball on the run and fired of the game winning shot to give Ozark a 2-1 lead in the closing minutes of the game. Bolivar managed to get into the box and earn a corner in stoppage time, but thankfully Ozark was successful in clearing the ball out . . . and finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the ref reached for his whistle and blew an end to game. Way to go Tigers!!!!
Wednesday, September 24 The Ozark Tigers gave up two goals in the first half to Pleasant View on Tuesday night. Although Ozark stepped up their game in the second half, they were unable to find the back of the net, and the final score remained 0-2 in favor of Pleasant View.
Wednesday, September 17 The Ozark Tigers faced the Willard Tigers last night and came away with a 1-1 tie. Sam Gunnels gave Ozark the lead 16 minutes into the second half as he placed a shot just inside the left post. Willard evened the score with approximately 4 minutes left in the game. From Coach Williams, “Very proud of the boys and the manner in which they played. Very exciting to see them moving the ball and their work effort off the ball made the biggest difference. It was an excellent showing that I hope we will continue to build upon!!”
