Ozark Tigers Soccer

Congratulations and THANKS to all the young ladies who have signed up for Middle School Soccer.  Right now we have just over 40 girls….AWESOME TURNOUT!!

“Tryouts” (used merely to place players on appropriate teams…there are NO CUTS!) will be Mon 8th,  Tues 9th, Thurs 11th & Friday 12th from 4:30-dark at the High School Grass fields (just North of the baseball field).  If you are unable to attend we need to know ASAP so we can work things out.  Once practices begin, they will more than likely begin at 5:00 (the time change will have occurred, so we will have more daylight) twice a week until games begin.  Once games begin, there will be one practice per week and one weekday game.  Until the coaches are able to evaluate the girls, we will not know what days you will practice OR what day your games will be on.  What I do know is that we have a terrific group of girls signed up to play and we are looking forward to a very successful season.

Ozark Middle School Girls Soccer Registration will be held on February 24th & 25th from 5:30-7:00 in the Jr. High Cafeteria.  Practice will begin the first part of March and games will begin late March.  (No practice dates have been set as of now)  If your 6th, 7th or 8th grade daughter is  interested in playing for the OZARK TIGERS, please call Missy at 582-1107 or Edith Van Hoesen at 496-2974 OR e-mail ozarktigersoccer@gmail.com.  Watch for the informational fliers to be posted in the Jr. High in the coming weeks…we need help getting information to the 6th graders, as they do not let us post fliers there…..so SPREAD THE WORD!!

Wednesday, June 3

Reminder….Middle School Soccer Banquet will be Thursday June 4th from 6:00-?? at the 1st Baptist Church.  Everyone will pay $3.00 at the door for the catered main dish (chicken strips from Rosie Jo’s) as well as bring a side dish to share.

8th grade….side dish

7th grade….salad of some kind  (or fruit/veggies)

6th grade….desert.

Tuesday, May 5th

JV RED practice has been canceled due to pending weather conditions. You have a game Wed at 6:00pm and Thurs at 6:00.  If you have not e-mailed me letting me know if you are able to make Thursday’s game, please do so ASAP so we know if we will have enough players. (8th graders have a dance).  We will ask some from the 6th grade team to fill in if you do not respond.

VARSITY, you have a game Wed night against Cherokee at 7:30….and no practice on Thursday.

JV BLACK….Edith is keeping you VERY UP TO DATE on your schedule.  I won’t dare confuse you!!!

Please keep your eye on the Lake Country web site for game cancellations.  I don’t think I’ve ever experienced so many cancellations in one season before….but the games that have been canceled (more JV2 games than any others), they say that there is standing water on the fields ….so I’m sure they are playing all the games possible without destroying their fields AND putting the girls in jeopardy of injury.  I have not heard anything as of 10:20am (Mon A.M.)….so I will continue to check the site and e-mail/post as soon as I have the information.  Missy =0)

VARSITY game for tonight has been canceled due to excessive water on the fields.  Game is rescheduled for this WEDNESDAY at 7:30 field 14 (same time and field as tonight was supposed to be).

Thanks to all the coaches, girls and their families who came out to the High School game on Friday for Middle School Night!  We had a great turnout, and got to watch a barn-burner of a game.  The game went into double over time, where there was still no change in the score, so the Tigers and Vikings were then forced to decide the game by Penalty Kicks…and Ozark came out on TOP!!!  I highly encourage you to go to as many High School games as you can.  We have a terrific team and they put on a great soccer show!!  You can find the schedule on the home page of this web site.

THURSDAY April 9.2009

ALL JV2 games are canceled for the night.  Makeup game is April 26th (Sunday)…that’s two Sunday’s in a row for you all!!!

VARSITY will practice tonight in the High School Gym.  PLEASE WEAR TENNIS SHOES…no cleats!!!

JV2 RED Goodman/McLain will practice from 5:00-6:30 at the high school as well….NO CLEATS, GIRLS!!!!!  Enter the RED hallway to the Aux and/or Main Gym.  We have both reserved….so we’ll figure out which team will go to which gym when we get there…..See you then.

JV2 BLACK…..stay home and stay dry!!!

The Varsity had it’s first game on Monday, March 30.  Ozark came up short to “LCS Southwest” (or Cherokee) with a 2-4 loss.  It was extremely windy that night.  Cherokee took the lead, but by the end of the first half, we had a 2-1 advantage.  Both goals scored by Emily Taylor, both assisted by Morgan Davidson.  Cherokee came out tough the 2nd half, with the wind at their backs and scored 3 goal quickly to take over the lead, and ultimately win the game.  The girls played hard…and are still trying to get familiar with their teammates.  Looking forward to Pershing (LCS Southeast) on Monday.

Rosters are finalized and schedules have been posted.  Coach Hoffman has the Varsity girls, Coach Griffin has the JV2BLACK team and Coach’s Goodman/McLain have the JV2RED team.  If you are unsure which team your daughter is on, please e-mail me at ozarktigersoccer@gmail.com and I will help you find out.  All rosters were send out via e-mail on Friday.  If you are not receiving updates via e-mail, please let me know and I will correct that!!  Practice for Spring Break week…..

OK….Coach Hoffman announced the Varsity players.  If your daughter practiced with him on THURSDAY, she is on the Varsity team.  Those practices will be Monday’s and Thursday’s from 5:00-6:60 at the High School Grass fields. Of the goalies, he would like for Abby Sugrue and McKenzie Foster to attend the Varsity practice.  Thursday’s will be when Jessie Sanderson will conduct her goalie trainings, and we will have to see WHERE they will be.  I will keep you posted!!

Everyone else is on ONE OF THE JV TEAMS for now.  Between Coach Griffin, Coach Chastain and Coach Hoffman, they feel  like they have most of the girls on a designated team, but still need to watch a few of the girls play.  SO….the JV teams will continue to practice at the same time which is Tues/Thurs 5:30-7:00 at Upper Elementary.  For ALL the goalkeepers, we may try to have you all together so that Jessie can work with you all at the same location…we’re just not sure on the logistics yet.  I will keep you informed as the week progresses.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT JV PRACTICE….There will be NO JV PRACTICE THIS TUESDAY due to scheduling conflicts.  We will resume on Thursday at Upper at 5:30.

If you have any questions at all, please e-mail me or call me at 582-1107.  With so many girls, it’s hard to make sure that I have covered all of my bases….and we have a few special circumstance that we need to work with….so I may be calling a few of you on and individual basis.  I still have a few people who have NOT BROUGHT ME THEIR FREE/REDUCED lunch verification.  If I do not have that by Wed, you will have to write me a check for $60.00.  I absolutely have to turn in that information to lake country by the 19th!!!  See some of you Monday and Everyone on Thursday.

Registration was a HUGE success.  As of right now, I have 43 girls with about 5 who have called and will be sending in their information this week.  If you are still interested in playing, please call Missy at 582-1107 ASAP and get the proper paperwork to get your daughter signed up.

Tryouts will be March 3, 5 & 9th.  The girls need to attend all three dates so that the coaches will be able to properly  put each girl on the right team.  As of right now, tryout times are 4:00-6:00, but will soon change once daylight savings kicks in…..Also, depending on which team your daughter plays on (we will most likely have 3 teams) will depend on what nights they practice after tryouts occur as well as the time of practice.  Coach Hoffman (Varsity Coach) will practice Monday & Thurs….times are flexible.  Coach Griffin (Jr. Varsity coach) is also the High School JV coach, so she will need to practice after H.S. practice is over and will need to work around her game schedule as much as possible.  We have asked another Ozark employee who just happens to be a previous Tiger soccer player to coach the third team.  Once we hear back from her, we can see what her schedule is like.  All this information should be available during tryouts.  I am in the process of creating a new e-mail list.  I will e-mail everyone for the first few weeks, and then it will be your responsibility to check the web site for updates.

You will need to fill out the MEMBERSHIP FORM and MEDICAL RELEASE WAIVER. (this needs to be notarized!!) Those who have given me a Medical form already this school year are exempt. (Xtreme players)

All Ozark 6th, 7th and 8th grade girls are invited and encouraged to come play soccer for the TIGERS. Middle School Soccer is hosted by Lake Country Soccer, but each team is made from individual schools. Official Registration for Girls Middle School Soccer has not been set, but it will be mid to late February, with practices beginning the first part of March. If you have any questions AT ALL…please contact either Missy Davidson 582-1107, High School Soccer Coach Tom Davidson at 582-5737 or Edith VanHoesen at 724-8640. Everyone who comes out for soccer will be placed on a team…there are no “cuts”. We will make as many teams as needed to accommodate all the players. Last year we had 33 girls…this year, we’re hoping for 45!! Fliers will be distributed at the Jr. High and possibly Upper. Please make sure your daughter brings the information home to you.
