All-District Teams Include Six OHS Tigers

Five Ozark seniors and a junior were named to the All-District Teams for Class 3 District 11.  Midfielder Zach Moore and Defender Andrew Presnell were two of twelve players included on the first team for District 11.  Midfielder Jordan Burns, forward Seth Hampton and forward Landon Hunter were among the players who made second team.  Junior midfielder Michael Headlee received Honorable Mention.  See the sgfsoccer article for the full list.

Ozark Tiger seniors Jordan Burns (midfielder), Zach Moore (midfielder) and Andrew Presnell (defender) were among fifteen Central Ozark Conference players named to the COC All-Conference first team for 2009.  Ozark Tiger senior Landon Hunter (forward) and junior Michael Headlee (midfielder) are members of the second team.  See sgfsoccer for the full list.

Ozark Tigers Fall to Kickapoo 5-2

The season came to an end for the Ozark Tigers in the semi-final of the district tournament.  Ozark senior forward Seth Hampton opened the scoring giving Ozark the early lead in the 12th minute of play.  Kickapoo answered back with 2 goals in the first half by Skyler Russell and Ian Kennedy to end the half with a 2-1 lead.  Russell completed a hat trick in the second half extending Kickapoo’s lead to 4-1 before Ozark junior Michael Headlee scored a beautiful header goal from a set piece served by Zach Moore to  make the score 4-2.  Kickapoo got a final goal in the 74th minute to result in the final score Kickapoo 5 and Ozark 2. Tigers open District Play with 3-1 Victory over Branson

The Ozark Tigers, seeded third and hosting the Distrit 11, Class 3 playoffs,  opened their district play Monday night with a 3-1 victory over the sixth-seeded Branson Priates.
 
The Tigers got out to an early 2-0 lead and controlled the majority of possessions throughout the game.  Seth Hampton scored in the tenth minute, off of a pass from Landon Hunter.  Jimmy Oslica got his first goal of the season after a corner kick that Branson was unable to clear.  The shot deflected off of a Branson defender and found the back of the net.
 
Branson cut the lead in half with a goal by Patrick Neely that rolled past the Tiger keeper Ryan Bilyeu, making the score 2-1.
 
The final goal was scored in the 75th minute when Hampton again took a pass from Hunter  in front of the goal and one-timed it past the Pirate keeper, giving the Tigers thier 3-1 lead, and securing the victory.

Ozark Records Shut-out Victory over West Plains, 3-0

The Ozark Tigers recorded their fifth consecutive, shutout victory Tuesday night with a 3-0 win over the West Plains Zizzers.  The win improved the Tiger’s record to 15-7 on the season. 
 Landon Hunter scored in the fourth minute for the only goal in the first half.
 
Seth Hampton recorded a goal when his close range shot just crossed the end line, after bouncing off the right goal post.  The Zizzer goalkeeper saved the ball but to no avail, and the Tigers lead 2-0 in the 52nd minute.
 
The final goal was scored in the 75th minute, when Andrew Van Hoesen took a long pass from Jimmy Oslica, split between two Zizzer defenders, and then beat the keeper with a hard right-footed shot, to give the Tigers their third goal, and the victory of 3-0.

Senior Night a Success for the Ozark Tigers, defeating Hilcrest, 10-0

The Ozark Tigers hosted Springfield-Hilcrest on Monday night, and came away with a convincing victory, beating the Hornets, 10-0.  The halftime ceremony honored the eight seniors on the Tiger squad.  This year’s seniors are, Andrew Van Hoesen, Skyler Foster, Zach Moore, Landon Hunter, Seth Hampton, Andrew Presnell, Colby Wilcox and Jordan Burns.

 
Colby Wilcox started in goal and recorded his first clean sheet of the season.  The Tiger’s  first goal was scored by Zach Moore at the ten minute mark, and then fellow senior Seth Hampton also scored just three minutes later.  Landon Hunter assisted on both goals.  Senior, Andrew Presnell scored the first of his three goals at the sixteen minute mark with a penalty kick goal after Hampton was fouled by a swarm of Hornet defenders inside the eighteen yard box. 
 
Hampton got his second goal of the night a the 20 minute mark and then freshman, Rodney Geremia scored two consecutive goals in the 23rd and 26th minute giving the Tigers a 6-0 lead: where the scored remanined until halftime.
 
In the second half, Presnell scored his second goal in the 43rd minute and then Jordan Burns added the Tigers eighth goal of the night, at the 46th minute mark.  Moore assisted on both goals.  Presnell scored his third goal with a hard left-footed shot, and then Skyler Foster drove home a rebounded shot for the Tiger’s tenth and final goal.  
 
The Tigers improve to 14-7 and have now shutout their last three opponents, winning by a combined score of 17-0 in those three matches.

Hampton’s Second Half Goal Leads Tigers over Bolivar 1-0

Ozark defeated the Bolivar Liberators Thursday night, on its home turf, improving their overall record to 13-7 on the season.  After playing to a first half tie of 0-0, Seth Hampton drove home a shot that found the back of the goal, for the game’s only score.  That shot was set up by a previous Zach Moore shot that hit the left upright and richoted right to Hampton. 
 
The 1-0 victory was the eighth shutout on the season.

West Plains Game Postponed

The game against West Plains scheduled in West Plains on Tuesday October 27th has been postponed.  The Ozark varsity will play West Plains at 4:00 PM in West Plains on Wednesday October 28th.  The bus will leave at 1:30 PM.  There will be no JV match in West Plains.  JV will have practice on Wednesday October 28th followed by a pasta dinner at the Berry home.

Senior Night Ceremony Monday, October 26th

Senior night will be held on Monday, October 26th during 1/2 time of the Varsity game.  All Senior parents should have already received information about the events of the evening.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Missy Davidson.  After the  game, everyone is invited to join us under the awning by the concession stand for cake and refreshments while the boys are presented with a gift from the Ozark Booster Club.

Headlee’s Hat Trick leads Tigers to Victory over Webb City, 6-0

The Ozark Tigers routed the Webb City Cardinals Monday night, with their sixth shutout victory of the season, winning 6-0.  It was their largest offensive output of the season as well.  The win capped off an undefeated Central Ozark Conference season with six wins against no defeats.  Junior, Michael Headlee, who had only one prior goal for the season, scored three goals on the night.
 
The match was played to a stalemate for the first nineteen minutes as the Tigers adjusted to a strong headwind in the first half.   Jacob Neidig got his fifth goal of the season, with a header that found that back of the net.  It was Neidig’s third goal in the last four games.  The goal was setup by a corner kick by Senior, Jordan Burns. 
 
Headlee got his first goal of the night with his own header off an excellent service by Daniel Van Hoesen from the right corner, making the score 2-0, where it remainted until halftime.
 
Headleee wasted no time in the second half as he took a Zach Moore corner kick and once again used his head to direct the ball past the Cardinal keeper, for his second goal of the night, and the Tigers third.
 
Seth Hampton scored the Tigers fourth goal with a hard right-footed shot after a fine dribble move to his right, beating a Cardinal defender.  The goal was assisted by Landon Hunter in the 46th minute.  Hunter scored himself off a Moore corner kick again in the 53rd minute beating the keeper at close range.
 
Headlee scored his third goal of the night in the 75th minute off a goalie rebound, that he kicked in the goal uncontested, to cap off his three goal night.
 
Tiger goalkeepers Ryan Bilyeu and Walker Smith combined for the shutout.
 
The varsity Tigers improve to 12-7 on the season and next take on the Bolivar Liberators on Thursday Night.
