The Ozark Lady Tigers defeated the Nixa Lady Eagles on Tuesday night to finish a clean sweep of the big schools in the Central Ozarks Conference. The winning goal for the Tigers came in the first 10 minutes of the second half of a game played in the rain. That’s when Ozark junior Megan Gunnels played a ball into the six-yard box where senior Eva Schwert was waiting to finish it into the goal after it was initially knocked down by the Nixa keeper. Playing conditions continued to deteriorate as the game progressed and the score remained 1-0 when the final whistle was blown. With the win, Ozark also secured a #2 seed for the upcoming district tournament, which includes a bye in the first round and a little extra time to rest and prepare for the next battle.
Nixa’s JV squad defeated Ozark by a score of 3-2 in the early match. The Nixa Eagles website has the complete story on that game.
