Ozark Defeats Marshfield 2-1 in OT

The Ozark Tigers won their first game of the season by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday in Marshfield, but had to go to overtime to get the victory.
 
The score was tied 0-0 at the end of the first half of play.
 
In the 55th minute, junior Landon Hunter scored on a header off a corner kick taken by senior TJ Miner.
 
Score remained 1-0 until the 81st minute (stoppage time) when Marshfield tied it with a header off a corner kick to send the game to overtime.
 
In the second extra period, junior Zack Moore scored on a free kick from 24 yards out, putting the ball right in the corner of the goal, just past the goalkeeper.

4-0 Win For Coach Ulrich’s Team in Redneck Cup

The boys in red came away with a repeat win for Coach Ulrich in Tuesday night’s intra-squad scrimmage.  Following the scrimmage game on the new turf, players and families enjoyed a pizza dinner in the high school cafeteria.  Pictured above are seniors Tommy Kindle and Zach Marlow.

2008 Christian County Men’s Soccer Tournament

The schedule for the 2008 Christian County Men’s Soccer Tournament is now available.

The first round of games will be played on Friday evening, September 12, 2008, with bracket play concluding on Saturday, September 13.

Lake Country Soccer offering High School Girls Academy

Lake Country Soccer in Springfield is offering a new program this fall for High School Girls.  The new High School Girls Academy is designed to provide high school aged girls additional training and development opportunities in the fall.  Primarily, it is intended to provide a service to those girls who are not playing on a club team.  However, the program is an open enrollment program regardless of which high school and/or club team a player is registered with in the fall.  The program is scheduled to begin on Sunday, September 7th, and currently planned to include a total of eight sessions.  These sessions are tentatively scheduled on Sunday afternoons from 1:30 - 3:00 pm on the north fields (Field #10) at LCS.  The cost to register is $60 per player.  For more information, please take the link above to the Lake Country Soccer website.

Ozark Tigers Move to Class 3 - District 11

The new district assignments were announced today for soccer, which also included the addition of a third class for high school soccer in Missouri.  Ozark has been placed in Class 3 - District 11 with Glendale, Kickapoo, Nixa, Parkview and the new team from Branson.

Class 3 - District 12 includes the following schools:  Carthage, Central, Hillcrest, Joplin, Neosho and Willard

OHS Boys Soccer - Red Neck Cup

The Ozark Tigers High School Boys Soccer team will scrimmage in the annual “Red Neck Cup” on Tuesday, August 26th, at 7:00 pm in Ozark’s new stadium.  Plan to be there for this exciting event to get the first look at the new squad.  There will be a meal following the game for players and their families.  Please plan to attend to get to know each other and meet the new members of the Ozark soccer family.  Some valuable information will be shared during the meeting that will follow regarding upcoming team building events and some other great stuff!  Pizza will be served at a cost of $4 per person.  Please RSVP to Edith VANHOESEN@aol.com  to let her know how many from your family are attending or not so we can plan for how much food we need to provide.   Edith will be sending a list for side items for each family to bring as soon as we know how many we will be feeding. Please join us for this fun event and bring the family.  

Ozark Middle School Boys Soccer

There will be a middle school soccer information table setup during orientation at the Junior High on Tuesday, August 12th, from 5:30 - 7:30 pm.  Please stop by and sign-up if you are interested in playing middle school soccer.  If you are interested in playing and are not able to come sign-up at the junior high on August 12th, please contact one of the following:

General Information: 

  • The middle school soccer program is open to all boys enrolled in Ozark R-VI Schools in grades 6 through 8.  
  • The Ozark team will represent Ozark in the middle school league at Lake Country Soccer in Springfield, but the team is not “sponsored” by Ozark R-VI schools. 
  • All games will be played at the Lake Country Soccer Complex in Springfield, MO.  The season will consist of at least 8 games, begining September 2.  The team will probably participate in the JV1 league this year, which will play on Tuesday nights.  If there are enough boys to field a second team, that team will play in the JV2 league on Thursday nights. 
  • Cost of participating in the league is $60 per player, which includes the cost of the printed t-shirts that every team is required to wear as jerseys. 
  • This program is designed to help develop players who may be interested in playing high school soccer in Ozark.
