The Ozark Lady Tigers hit the road on Monday for their first away game. They traveled to West Plains for a match with the Zizzers. The Lady Tigers dominated possession for the majority of the game but the game remained scoreless until the the 49th minute when freshman Megan Gunnels settled a pass from freshman Alicia Collard in front of the goal and finished beautifully to put the Lady Tigers on the board first. In the 69th minute, West Plains forward Michelle Esterle won a ball at the 18 and broke free from a pack of Ozark defenders. She took on the Ozark keeper and placed the ball nicely in the back of the net from 8 yards out to tie the game at 1-1. Ozark mounted at least three more serious attacks in the final 10 minutes, but the West Plains keeper was able to deny all attempts sending the game into overtime. In OT, the Lady Tigers stepped onto the field with intensity. After a couple unsuccessful attacks, senior Melissa Hogan received a pass from her sister Erica Hogan outside of the 18 yard box on the left side of the field. Melissa turned, beat her mark, and dribbled directly at the keeper. This time she would not be denied. She placed the ball past the keeper and scored the golden goal to give Ozark the 2-1 victory in overtime.
In the first match of the evening, the Ozark JV (6-0) continued their winning streak by defeating the West Plains JV by a score of 2-1. Both goals for Ozark were scored by freshman Taylor Lorenzo.
