3v3 Summer Sizzler

Ozark Tiger Soccer will host their first annual 3v3 Summer Sizzler soccer tournament on Saturday, August 2, 2008. Part of the proceeds will be donated to the Matthew P. Stoelb Continuing the Journey Scholarship fund. This scholarship fund benefits Ozark students with autism or their siblings as they continue their education beyond high school.

: (based on fall 2008 MYSA classification)
Boys U8, U10, U12, U14 and High School
Girls U8, U10, U12, U14 and HIgh School
Adult Co-Ed Recreational (35 and under, Over 35)
Adult Co-Ed Competitive (18 and over)

Cost: $75 per team (max of 5 players per team)

Paige Hemphill Receives All-State Honors

Three Lady Tigers recognized as members of the News-Leader All-Ozarks Girls Soccer Team

Awards continue to roll in for the 2008 Ozark Lady Tigers.  Ozark sophomore goalkeeper Paige Hemphill and Ozark sophomore defender Megan Jenisch were recognized by the Springfield News-Leader as members of the All-Ozarks Girls Soccer Team.  Ozark sophomore midfielder Megan Stodden was also recognized as a member of the All-Ozarks second team.  Congratulations ladies!  Photos above were taken by Steve Olson of sgfsoccer.com.

Four Sophomores Receive Class 2 Southwest Region Honors

Paige Hemphill and “the three Megans” (Gunnels, Jenisch, and Stodden) were honored as members of the Missouri High School Girls Class 2 Southwest Region Team.  Ozark goalkeeper Paige Hemphill pictured above shared honors as Keeper of the Year for the region with senior Abbey Roam of the Lebanon Lady Yellowjackets.  Hemphill and Jenisch were both named as members of the Southwest Region Team.  Gunnels and Stodden made the list of honorable mention players.  See the sgfsoccer.com article for the complete list of players recognized as members of the Class 2 Southwest Region Team.  This list of 25 players included 11 seniors, 3 juniors, 9 sophomores and 2 freshmen.

TAYLOR CHOOSES REGENTS - press release from Rockford College

ROCKFORD, ILWith his parents, Joseph and Ramona Taylor, and sister, Emily, looking on, Ozarks High School senior Jason Taylor signed a letter of commitment to attend Rockford College as part of the Regents Soccer Class of 2012.  Joining the Taylors at the event were Rockford soccer head coach Wicky Green and assistant Matt Whatley, and Rockford athletics director Randy Schrader.

 

Taylor, a 5’10” goalie, allowed 39 goals during the 2007 season, while leading the Tigers to a 16-8 record.  The keeper also plays for the Springfield Demize, a Premiere Development League (PDL) franchise of the United Soccer Leagues.

 

“Jason is a great kid, who will be an incredible part of the Rockford College community,” said Coach Green.  “He will be an asset to our program both on the field and in the classroom.  We hope that Jason can be a cornerstone for the future of Rockford College men’s soccer.”

Four Players Represent Ozark in the 4th Annual Southwest All-Stars Game

The 4th Annual Southwest All-Stars Game, presented by sgfsoccer.com and Springfield Soccer Club, will be held on Thursday, June 19th, at the Cooper Soccer Compex at Lake County Soccer in Springfield.  The ladies will play at 6:00 pm followed by the gentlemen at 8:00 pm.

Ozark will be represented by two young ladies and two young men.   Erica Hogan and Jessica Bush will represent the Lady Tigers.  Robbie Curtis and Jake Lumby will represent the Tigers.  Please make plans to attend to cheer on these recent Ozark graduates as they compete with the other top soccer players from the area’s “Class of 2008″ in the All-Star Game.  You can find more information and complete rosters for the 2008 teams at www.swsoccerallstars.com

Jason Taylor Signs with Rockford College

Senior goalkeeper Jason Taylor, pictured above with parents Joe and Ramona Taylor,  will sign a letter of intent to play soccer for the Rockford College Regents at 9:00 am on Wednesday, May 28th.    The Regents are a Division III NCAA team that competes in the Northern Athletics Conference.  Rockford College is located in Rockford, Illinois.  Congrats and best wishes Jason!

Nine Ozark Lady Tigers and Coach Receive Honors in Class 2 District 12

The Ozark Lady Tigers were well represented when Class 2 District 12 Honors were announced for Missouri High School Girls Soccer.  The list of Ozark players recognized included a senior, a junior, six sophomores, a freshman, and their coach.  Ozark also walked away with four of the top five awards.
